Tula-y Para sa Pagbangon Spoken Poetry Contest

Activity Description

This activity is a virtual spoken word poetry competition. The participant will be submitting a video of the delivery of the spoken poetry piece he/she has originally written. Submitted videos will be posted on Facebook for the 10% public appeal criterion. Top 5 entries will be selected to deliver their spoken poetry piece live at the finals to be conducted using video conferencing.

4. To unite Rotaractors all over the country


Activity Timeline

Entry Submission Cut-off: September 11, 2020 (Friday), 7 pm

Posting of Entries in Facebook for Online Voting: September 15, 2020 (Tuesday), 6 pm

Deadline for Online Voting: September 18, 2020 (Friday)

Live Finals: September 20, 2020 (Sunday), 8 pm

Registration Fee: FREE


  1. Champion - Php 1,500 Cash

  2. 1st Runner Up - Php 1,000 Cash

  3. 2nd Runner Up - Php 500 Cash

  4. 3rd and 4th Runners Up- Php 250 Cash each

All the winners will receive certificates of recognition. Cash prizes of winners will be sent via GCash while certificates will be sent through email.

Guidelines and Mechanics

A. Eligibility and Entry Submission

  1. This competition is open to all active Rotaractors in the Philippines. The artist will have to attach a certificate of membership signed by his/her Rotaract club President upon submission of the entry form.

  2. One Rotaractor, one entry only.

  3. Upon submission of an entry, the Rotaractor grants the organizers the full permission to use the entry in publicity materials.

  4. Participants are entrusted to embody the Four Way Test in submitting an entry and participating in the competition.

  5. Late submission of entries will not be accepted.

B. Spoken Poetry Piece

  1. The entry must be originally written and delivered by the contestant.

  2. The entry must illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme.

  3. The entry can be written in Filipino, English or combination of both languages.

  4. The entry must not contain derogatory, malicious or offensive words.

  5. Additional sounds, instrumental or other background music, as long as non-copyrighted, can be added to complement the delivery.

  6. Actual photos or videos of the project and activities initiated by the Club can be added to the video.

  7. The overall video output must not exceed 3 minutes.

C. Criteria for Judging - Elimination Round

Message/Content - 40%

Delivery, Performance and Video Quality - 40%

Overall Impact - 10%

Public Appeal - 10%

TOTAL - 100%

Entries will be posted in the Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO Facebook Page. The entry with the most number of reactions during the posting period obtains the maximum score of 10 points in the public appeal criteria while the succeeding entries will obtain a percentage score based on the gap of their reactions from the entry with the most number of reactions.

The top 5 from the elimination round will advance to the final round. They will be asked to deliver their entry live via a Zoom video call.

D. Criteria for Judging - Final Round

Message/Content - 45%

Delivery, Performance and Style - 45%

Overall Impact - 10%

TOTAL - 100%

Final ranking will be announced after the performances.
